The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial support to future changemakers in the world of education. These individuals are the ones who can’t help but make good trouble. They approach the biggest challenges with curiosity, persistence, and hope. And they are dedicated to a careful, sustainable, and integrated approach to teaching.
This year, we are supporting C4CA Project Coordinator and volunteer J Warren in their pursuit of earning their teaching license through the Friends Teacher Preparation Program starting in fall 2025. In this program, J will co-teach sixth graders with their mentor teacher at the Friends Middle School. In addition to working directly with students four to five days per week, J will complete four licensure courses through CU Denver’s Master of Arts in Teaching, Elementary Education program (225+ coursework hours).
Historically, qualified Teacher Candidates (TCs) have been able to dedicate themselves to this intensive program full-time because of a living stipend provided by Colorado House Bill 22-1220. In May of this year, TCs learned that the living stipend from the state of Colorado (expected to be $2,400/month over 10 months) will not be available due to the trickle-down effects of federal budget cuts. This is devastating for many considering the need for teachers and the lack of accessible options to become a teacher.
Please help us support J in being able to focus on the teaching program and their development as an educator full-time with the confidence that their living expenses are covered.
Our goal is to raise $24,000 (dispersed monthly), and you can help us by donating and/or sharing this link and our Instagram post (above)!
Thank you so much!
