Climate Education and Community Action Framework

Climate change is one of the most pressing problems facing our world. Children and families want to learn more in order to take action. When teachers, students, and families come together around climate action, entire communities can tackle the intersectional issues of climate change with hope and agency.

The Climate Education and Community Action Framework offers guidance about how to take up these four “Ss” in your climate education practice through a principled approach to climate education.  Read more about Science, Serious, Systems, and Solutions on the inner circle of the framework.

Additionally, six principles make up The Climate Education & Community Action Framework.  Taken together, these principles guide the design and enactment of learning experiences that support sensemaking about climate science, engage young people in talking about why climate change is serious, and create opportunities for youth and communities to work together to act toward climate solutions.
