Community

Building students’ background knowledge about climate change, climate justice, and climate solutions, creates opportunities for student agency.  Their skills as civic actors impact people of all ages throughout their communities to get involved in local climate solutions. Partnerships between schools, businesses and local governments evolve through student agency and student voice. Climate education is necessary and possible throughout the K-12 curriculum and can be integrated into every subject area and to multiple units of instruction throughout a school year. Teaching about climate change involves four actions that coordinate climate education around mitigation, adaptation, and resilience.
