Create opportunities to learn outside with communities beyond the classroom

Example:

Kindergarteners learned about the superpowers of trees to fight climate change with their ability to take CO2 out of the air and turn it into oxygen through photosynthesis.  They explored the trees in the neighborhood around their school with the City of Boulder forester and a local arborist.  They also learned about a community in the country of Eritrea.  There, the amazing mangrove trees restored food and job stability back into the community. Then, students taught their parents the importance of evergreen and mangrove trees.

The joy of being in nature and finding happiness in being outside and enjoying our natural resources as a space to live, play, and find community is essential for all ages.

Example:

5th graders had an opportunity to explore agrivoltaics and the relationship between elevated solar arrays and farming.  Introducing students to climate solution careers that connect them to the land is another benefit of getting students outside of their school and into the community.
