A huge shoutout and congratulations to the lead curriculum writer and C4CA’s new Research and Grants Manager, Collette Heskett!

AND we are proud and excited to introduce each of these courses in BVSD schools in the upcoming school year!!

Climate Resilience Summits

Colorado high school students gather every spring and fall to galvanize youth voices on local climate action. Join us for the next one!

Keep an eye out for more info about the fall Summit hosted at Centaurus High School, which will organize around the upcoming national mobilization day SUN DAY!

Fundraising Campaigns

Changemaker Scholarship

The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial support to future changemakers in the world of education. This is especially timely due to the recent loss in funding for living stipends previously offered to teacher candidates in Colorado.

This year, we are supporting C4CA Project Coordinator and volunteer, J Warren, in their pursuit of earning their teaching license through the Friends Teacher Preparation Program starting in fall 2025.

Author Visit by Heather McGhee

In fall 2025, the Louisville Public Library and Classrooms for Climate Action are gathering students and community members of all ages to join together in deepening our understanding of the impact that racism has on us all by reading The Sum of Us by Heather McGhee.

We are raising funds to have Heather McGhee join us at a culminating event!

Other Fun Stuff!

Community Coordinator

Jackeline Herrera Merlos has joined the C4CA team as our Community Coordinator!

As an experienced multilingual coordinator, she will play a crucial role in supporting teachers of the three new climate literacy courses (learn more above). She will also connect the enrolled students with mentorship and shadowing opportunities in local green jobs!

Book Chapter Feature

C4CA was invited to write a chapter in the book Addressing the Climate Crisis for Transforming Schools and Communities

We are excited to contribute to the larger conversation about climate literacy in our country with our chapter called “Agency to Advocacy: Supporting Student Voices in Local Climate Action.”

We’ll share more info about publication dates and where you can find it soon!

Get in Touch

C4CA is hoping that other communities will rally their own retired educators and community members to support teachers and students in local climate action. Get in touch if you need ideas on how to get started in your own town or if you want to volunteer in Boulder County!
